The White Bed is filling in

The Datura that bloomed last night is in the white bed. I planted it in the back corner where I had originally thought I would install a deck or patio for an outdoor seating area. This winter, I'll be moving most of the plants here to a better location. I may leave some, but the white theme will be discontinued here. The new location is the lowest point in the yard, near the magnolia tree. It receives more morning sun and late evening sun. It's also where I plan to build my firepit from leftover stone and bricks. I've got to get busy on that this fall.

The white bed looking East.

Store bought petunias line the edge.

Nicotiana and asiatic lilies.

Loads of datura inhabit this space. There are more nicotiana and castor beans along the wall and fence. White gerber daisies aren't really white. Shastas will bloom next year. Scabiosa is just starting to bloom. A daisy gardenia is at the corner of the house. Ginger lilies will provide summer scent and compete with the datura and brugmansia for attention.

It's 70 degrees and overcast. Rain is likely this afternoon, and I'm not going to complain. I watered the entire perennial bed yesterday for the first time all year. Reseeders from Carrie were planted throughout.

It is looking great! I love the stone edging. I am sure you have a readily supply of it up there, but down here it is hard to come by. That is what I want to use for my borders, maybe oneday I will run accross some

It all looks good to me. Imagine what it will look like by July 4!

I was just sitting here thinking about what I could do about all those white lilies scattered everywhere here without good companions, and the pic of your lilies and nicotiana pops right up! I gathered white nicotiana seeds this afternoon with no firm plan for them. I think it's coming together now, thanks. Even though some of the nicotiana is bound to be pink or lavender, it won't matter.

Nell, some of mine is green, some is purple. The scent is all I really wanted. I think with the datura, it should be a nice combination of large, small, and fragrant flowers by July. I counted 12 datura plants out there today after I moved 6 to other spots in the yard.

DP, all the stone came from the yard. There's more in the gully. You're welcome to come by and haul it out. Watch out for things that slither.

It looks very nice, Tom! I love all white beds and plan to add one somewhere someday in the not too distant future. It has been fun watching yours come to be so full!

I love the curves, stone border, and your blooms. Leave some stones for the things that slither. ;o)
