Outside my bedroom window, there are several datura plants. The first one finally bloomed last night. I went to sleep with the fragrance spilling in through the open window. A fan pulls the cool night air into the room. This morning, the whole house smells like datura.

In the perennial bed, the datura are setting lots of buds.

The triple yellow by the front door has at least 6 buds. I'm guessing about a week before they start to open.

Curious as to what datura smells like, Tom. Can you describe it? Does it smell like any other flower or a mixture of some? Thanks for info.

Judy, it's hard to describe, but to me it smells like good, clean soap. It's got a bit of lemon to it, but just a hint, almost noticed in passing. It's just really clean.
I would love to wake up smelling this around the house..nice! Windows are kept closed here due to allergies though!
