Last night it rained. It started about 8:30pm. The first storm rolled through about 9pm. That storm begat another storm that thundered by 15 minutes later. The second storm begat another storm and then another and another until I finally went to bed about 11pm. It was still raining when I fell asleep. Thunder and lightning went on for some time. I sat in the darkened living room after the power went out. The temperature dropped significantly. It was a good night.
Crocosmia in the perennial bed has finally decided to bloom. I bought this plant last summer on a business trip to Delaware. I divided the multitude of corms this winter and scattered it throughout the perennial bed. This year, I need to dig them up again and give them more sun.
Ecinacea Magnus appeared this morning, too. The coreopsis is "Full Moon".

The crocosmia has an iris like leaf. I guess this is a tropical for you Southern Gardeners. It is a beautiful plant with such great color.
In early summer a friend gave me a bag of crocosmia and I did like you and divided it out all across the yard. No blooms so far. She says it multiplies pretty good so I should be able to enjoy it next summer.
We had thunder and sprinkles last night. Glad yall got some rain.

LD, I had no idea what it was when I bought it. I just liked the look.
Missy, my original plant turned into several clumps over the summer last year. This is the only one to bloom.
Jim, I tried posting this the other day, but all my pictures were blurry. It was just budding then. I got it this morning before the sun was shining through the gaping hole in the woods out back. Yes, I should be chopping wood. I've asked around for someone who will provide firewood and take the rest. I don't like snakes and things that slither.
