Catching up.

Photos from the past three weeks. Life is grand.

I drove 1800 miles in 38 hours roundtrip to New Iberia, Louisiana. I rode the bike 3 hours to Asheville on Friday. I'll take it home on Monday stopping through Charlotte to visit friends there. I'm on vacation for nine days. I'm not counting yet. Lots more time to enjoy the simple things in life.

Here and there.

All over the yard there are areas where the plant combinations are really nice this year. The irises are gorgeous. The columbine has spread by seed scattering. The weeds really took over. Maybe next year I'll get a handle on that.

Inspiring the Customer.

I started at 4am. By 9:30, the hardscape was in and cleanup was finished. Colleen joined me at 9. We started assembling furniture right there on the spot. She chose plants. I picked the decor. The display is at Lowe's #1529. l would pat myself on the back but I'm too sore. It was a lot of fun.

Daffodils

I planted these two years ago. They come in waves starting with the solid yellows. Then the mixed. Finally the solid whites bloom about three weeks later.

I also have peach blossoms. Too early.

From the Farmer's Almanac...

No one is ever too old to learn, but some people keep putting it off.

Starting tomato seeds tomorrow. Yellow pear, Beefsteak, Purple Krim, Pink Brandywine, and Sweetie. The almanac says Thursday and Friday are the best two planting days for above ground veggies. Today I'll pull the weeds from my raised beds. I hope I can find a truckload of compost for cheap.

I've been lazy

Due to popular demand the blog archive is back. I'll try to update more often. Spring is just around the corner. Last night it snowed.

Vinca major

Winter has consisted of a handful of nights below freezing.  There were crabapples blooming in Statesville on my way back from Asheville. It gave me time to think.
