While watering...

I came across new blooms in the perennial bed. This is a Blackberry Lily, wintersown in 2008/9. They remind me of orchids. I'll keep these.

The celosia is blooming behind the upper potager. I wintersowed these in the spring of this year. I'm expecting them to reseed.

The Goldfinches have discovered the echinacea.

A nearly flawless sunflower bloom. Todd took a photo of this one last week, still in the green phase.

It's 90 degrees already. Takeout sushi tonight with Laura and Emily on the lake.

Sunflower is an art in itself. Little yellow dots closely packed and yet a flowery pattern appears.... Talk about art and design, nothing can beat NATURE....

Love that blackberry lily! Someone gave me an iris once and said it was blackberry lily, but it turned out to be a regular purple iris. Pretty, but not what you have. She had an extensive garden - I guess the pots just got mixed up. I'll have to look for one -they have such an unusual look.

I hope it will be cooler on the lake. That lily is quite a keeper. It does look tropical with it's coloring. I would only hope the goldfinches would leave my neighbor's backyard feeder and come eat my seeds. It is like she got to them first and they never leave the territory. Great shots.

My blackberry lilies, sown from seeds 2 years ago are large enough to bloom -- but, the bunnies ate three of them (all the foliage) a few days ago! I have one in bloom right now.

It's pouring rain right now. Hate that we're heading back to 101 for a few days.

Badin Lake or Lake Tillery? Have fun!

Great lily. Nice sunflower photo and dinner by the lake sounds like fun, w/o the sushi though, lol.
