This time of year, there are only a couple of us in the garden center that can drive a forklift. That means we get to share the closings. I'm going on number 4 in a row tonight. I've really enjoyed it this week. Every morning, I wake up with no alarm. The electric blanket has kept me nice and warm all night. The fire in the basement needs attention. There's coffee to be made. I lay just a few more minutes enjoying the light that comes through the bedroom windows. I ignore the dust.
Life is good in the morning. Nothing seems to bother me. I take my time coming to terms with the world. I read the news and drink coffee. I do a load of laundry and I clean up the dishes from the very late dinner I had. I like to watch the colors shift outside the bedroom windows. Gold and yellow are the primary colors so far. The maples lost most of their changing leaves in last week's rain and wind.
Sometimes I wander around the yard. I don't do much gardening these days. I'm waiting. I've moved everything I can think to move. I've pulled and culled all the plants that don't perform well without summer rain. I've scattered poppy seeds and noticed next year's larkspur seedlings. I found a few clumps of daffodils in the backyard that have already pushed through the soil. Yeah, I know, right?
It's 43 degrees, up from 35 at 8am. Tonight there will be a hard freeze. The garden can be put to bed later in the week. I'll have a couple closings before my day off on Friday. I need to rake some leaves too.

Sounds like a pretty delightful way to spend a Saturday morning.
The forklift controls your life but it is a good thing. Your having a cold fall too. We warm up to 70 on Sunday despite the hard freezes.Great photos.
Sounds like my kind of morning!
