Bright and Shiny.

When I went to bed last night, it was muggy and warm. It was only 59 degrees, but it rained. And boy did it rain. The lightning flashed and the thunder rolled. This morning, the air is cool and crisp at 51 degrees. We'll get into the 70s today with 30s tonight.

Lots of leaves are still hanging on. It's windy today. They won't last long.

The sky is that beautiful Carolina Blue people write songs about.

The cabbage, collards, and broccoli are doing well. They must have enjoyed the rains.

There are figs that will never ripen.

Confederate Rose might have enough time.

Lots of aphids on the Butterfly Weed.

Today and tomorrow I'll spend most of my time splitting wood. It's going to be a long winter.

Hi Tom ~ Well, at least you have cool temps for splitting wood. Right now it is 84 and feels like it is 86, miserable weather for November. Sheesh!

The autumn colors in your neck of the woods are lovely. Your little veggie garden looks great too. Hope you get to see the Confederate rose bloom, sorry you won't get to enjoy the figs.

Have a nice afternoon and evening.

The trees around your home are so pretty. Go to the library and get some good books to read !

Hi Tom,
We could use some more rain here. Your temps sound similar to ours. I thought it would be warmer there.

Glad you are getting rain.

I thought you would be able to ripen figs in your zone?? I consider the Brown Turkey now and then. It is supposed to be hardy here, but I have my doubts.

Happy wood splitting.

gld, I've already eaten figs from this tree twice. This is the third crop. I think it's Celeste.

Just found your blog, chock full of information for a beginner like me! Just a question, I have heard that ladybugs love aphids and will goble them up? I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, maybe I just like the idea of releasing hundreds of ladybugs!
