The Cloner
It's been a while since I mentioned the cloning machine. It's been running since I built it back in late December. I've been sticking a few cuttings here and there when the pineapple sage outgrows the space under the lights. Last Saturday, I stuck a few pieces of sage and three green cuttings from the brugmansia I was moving outside. One week later, two of the brugs have rooted, one shows a little nub, and the pineapple sage is ready to be potted up. I need to pick up a bag of soil today.

Nice, really nice. Actually potted up my fuchsia that I rooted - YAY. Still, that cloner looks awfully tempting....
You have a lot of different methods of propagation going on there! Your yard will be full in no time!

Kris, wait until you get your cuttings rooted. You'll want them faster. Pineapple sage takes about 3-4 weeks in soil with bottom heat. I can do it in 7 days with the cloner. Some perennials can be propagated this way too. Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Shasta daisies. All you need is a stem that hasn't flowered, but has at least 1 set of leaves. I'll be giving it a go this summer. I want to fill a whole bed with Alaska Shasta daisies.
I think I may just have to try this machine- I'll add it to my wish list! Have you noticed any roots tangling?
