Out of 10, this is the only Dutch Iris that I have blooming. It surprised me this morning. Yesterday, it was just a bud on top of a stem.

Finally, something red. The dogwood blooms are opening. One more week and it will be done.
I love some of the greens out there today. The pictures don't do it justice.

Wow Tom, that perennial bed looks great! I can already see the yellow jasmine over the arbor, great choice! All your hard work is definitely paying off :)

Everything looks wonderful. What really gets me excited is the green haze of budding trees in the background.
Thanks Lynn. It should look like more than mulch and dirt this year, finally. I spent most of the summer trying to get it laid out and putting down leaf mulch. Now, I'm ready to grow.
Jill, I noticed the greening trees yesterday for the first time on my way back from lunch. Along one street, the dogwoods are blooming, the phlox is going crazy, and the maples are starting to leaf out. I can't believe spring has finally sprung for real.
Things are looking great Tom. I love seeing the progression of your gardens as things start waking up. That Dutch Iris is beautiful.

It's interesting to see that some of your plants are way ahead of mine but others are about the same. Of course you can't see mine today because they are under a couple inches of snow :(
Flowerlady, I didn't know what to expect from the irises. I bought a mix but I really love that one. Too bad the other 9 decided not to come up. They came from Gurney's. I've never ordered bulbs from them before.
Harriet, I really like the bright green and purple too. I have to be careful with that since the Japanese Maple is another burgundy. Although, I have been toying with the idea of moving the Thundercloud plum from the perennial garden to that backyard next winter, and moving the JM out there.
Laura, I can't believe how nice the weather has been so far this spring. I was expecting another snowfall, and it still could happen, but the chances are getting slimmer. I can't wait to see my flowers bloom. I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve. Come on, COME ON!

I have newly planted iris ret. They have had buds a few days. I wonder if it's too cold for them. The buds may have been damaged and aren't going to open.
The Dutch Iris is pretty awesome! I was amazed at how quick they bloom. I checked mine one afternoon when I got home from work, then again before I went to bed (I am a dork like that), and when I woke up last Tuesday it had fully bloomed. Makes me want to put a time lapse camera on it!
Sue, this one was a bud for more than a week. I didn't really pay attention to it and BAM! It was open. I like surprises like that. So keep the faith. Yours could surprise you too.
