I think it could be a relative. It's Rumex sanguineus. I keep mine from flowering because it can become invasive due to all the seeds it produces. I just chop it into pieces to start a new one.
This is something my quirky little brain actually knows about! Who knows what would have ever prompted me to Google it years ago?
Swiss Chard is a relative of beets, while Rumex is in the same family as Rhubard, Buckwheat and Knotweed. That might explain why it is so prolific at spreading once it finds a spot it likes.
You did find a lot of Christmasy looking plants! I'm surprised at how good my Bloody Dock still looks after all of our freezing weather. Hope it warms up a bit for you, but at least it's clear.

Tis the season for red and green! That dock does look like swiss chard but I'm sure it is not as tasty.
We still have an inch of snow here, because of the shade the road has barely thawed, the garden snow is almost gone so at least it is sunny.

Tom your garden looks great. No whining about winter from you! Mine looks like a Kevin Costner movie...budget and film alike. A total disaster.

Tim, it's a great looking plant in the spring, peters out a bit in the heat of summer, and stays up all winter long.
