Preparations.

I'm off from work tomorrow and Wednesday. It's supposed to rain on Tuesday. Wednesday should be nice with a high of 71. If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.

This morning, I've got three packages to take to the Post Office. The last of the brug trades will go out this morning along with an envelope of seeds. I'm still waiting on Yvonne's salvia to finish drying before I send one to Carrie in Charlotte who gave me lots of reseeding annuals in the spring.

I've got lots of plans for my days off. I've got the pipe to build the 16' long hoophouse, caulk to prepare the kitchen for painting, 400 daffodil bulbs to plant (they went 90% off yesterday), 90 muscari bulbs, and firewood that needs to be moved into the basement. I'm also going to see a man about a new wood stove for the basement. While the little one I have works fine for a few hours at a time, the fire never lasts more than 4 hours and restarting it every morning is a pain. We'll see what he has to offer and if it's worth the money.

It's currently 28 degrees and mostly cloudy. The sun is trying to make an appearance. From my window, I can see lots of plants that are in the last stages of being damaged by several heavy frosts. I may get outside and take a few pictures later. I'm still in my pajamas for now.

Hi Tom,

you make me tired, what go-juice do you drink?

Thanks Sue. It's Cafe Bustelo. I drink a lot of coffee first thing in the morning and sometimes throughout the day. I have to wear myself out physically to sleep at night. Sitting around makes me really tired.

The weather does change quite quickly some days...geez, why didn't you buy some bulbs while they were on sale? LOL

Those bulbs will really look great in your garden. We are done now with planting anything as we have frozen ground. I tried to bring in my gazing ball and the base was frozen into the ground. Have a good couple of days off.

After the second cup of Cafe Bustelo, perhaps you should jog to Atlanta to plant the rest of my daffodils, as well! Now you're making me feel guilty again about now getting them planted!

You are going to be one busy guy, Tom. I always enjoy having some time to actually accomplish some things on my list!

I bought 100 daffs and 90 muscari when the price was 75% off. I picked up another 60 muscari and 300 daffs once it went to 90% off. For those that are counting, that's 400 daffs and another 150 muscari. All that and we're not counting the bulbs already out there that I've been digging up all summer as I move and replant things. I still have no idea where I'm going to put them all, but I'll be doing it on Wednesday. It's supposed to be drizzly and 71 degrees. Woohoo!

Wow, Tom,
It will be fun to see your flower beds in the spring. I have tomorrow off due to the snow storm we are having. I need to do some de-cluttering tomorrow, partly to find my memory cards and card reader so I can take photos of the snow. ;o)

Planting season is definitely over here. I decided not to plant any bulbs this fall, money is a little tight. Now I'm regretting my decision. Well, there's always next year.

71 degrees? Bah! The last time I looked it was 14 here. Yesterday I spent the day trying to thaw out my pipes. The pond had 2 plus inches of ice. I think I am going to swing on over to your side of the woods and enjoy some of that wild weather you're having. I'll even help with the firewood. :-)

After you finish the daffodils at Tim's, another 'few' miles to my place where 150 more daffodils await along with a handful of hyacinths. It's always too warm, or too cold, or too damp or something.

The budderfly lily wants damp as much as it wants light. They do like lots of water, like cannas and crinums and things do.
